I completed a PhD in English at the University of Cardiff, where I was the recipient of the competitive Overseas Research Scholarship. My dissertation, “Such Genius as Hers: Music and Gender in New Woman Fiction” examined the role of music as part of the answer to “The Woman Question” in the works of Sarah Grand, Mona Caird, George Egerton, and their fellow New Woman writers. My research interests included Victorian literature and culture, the 1890s, New Woman Fiction, music in literature, women’s writing, and gender studies.
